Over the years, improvements in technology have allowed for some spectacular leaps forward in medicine. Each year, more studies are taking place than the year before and this has led to new medicine, medical procedures, and other medical solutions. For example, more recent studies have been drawing a link between the likelihood of experiencing allergies and the likelihood of experiencing ADHD and autism. While experiments are still ongoing, this could be important news within this niche because it poses some important questions.
Above all else, it leads us to ask what health problems could be resolved by simply treating allergies. Could treating allergies lead to a nationwide decrease in the number of ADHD cases? For many medical professionals, the focus has indeed switched to treating allergies because of the other benefits this could bring whether it’s with sinuses, ADHD, eczema, or even autism.
Today, we want to investigate this issue further and introduce you to a natural treatment called Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (N.A.E.T)!
What is N.A.E.T?
Developed in the 1980s by Dr Nambudripad (hence the name!), N.A.E.T can be considered ‘holistic’ or ‘complementary’ medicine since its origins can be tied to Oriental medical procedures. Essentially, the treatment works with acupressure and neuromuscular sensitivity testing (NST) and this might lead you to think of Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (AAT). However, there are some important differences including the added use of nutrition, allopathy, and chiropractic techniques.
As part of the overall treatment, the patient will have a vial of the targeted allergen placed upon the skin while muscle testing occurs. With this in mind, only one allergen can be treated at any one time and a specialized sequence has been devised for the most efficient results; by following this order, treating one allergen can subsequently treat another without having to deal with it directly. For patients, it generally takes anywhere up to 20 visits for the treatment to be fully completed and the end result should see them desensitized against the allergens that previously caused issues.
How Does it Work?
In order to answer ‘what is N.A.E.T?’, we need to learn the patient’s experience and how a typical treatment plan will run. After visiting a professional, the first step will always be to undergo an evaluation of the patient’s health. With muscle response testing, the status of the immune system can be learned along with the location and seriousness of pain. From here, more can be learned regarding the muscles associated with the pain, the nerve root, and meridians. Once all possible information has been gleaned, it should be easier to locate the substance causing an imbalance in the energy meridian.
By using this meridian path, the correct spinal nerve root can be located at the spinal column; and, therefore, also the brain’s message center. As treatment begins, the nervous system of the patient will be exposed to the allergen while the nerve root is being treated with acupressure. When done correctly, a level of normality can be re-established within the body and the sensitivity to the substance should reduce over time.
As the N.A.E.T process takes place, two benefits simultaneously occur; 1) a normal energy flow resumes through the connected meridians and all around the body and 2) the previous message of the substance being harmful is erased. Instead, the body no longer reacts negatively but treats it just as the body should.
For the treatment to have the best chance of success, the patient will need to steer clear of the allergen for at least 24 hours. Why? Because this allows an energy unit to complete a circuit from beginning to end around the body. With this period of freedom from the substance, a new permanent message is created and the body can’t fall back into the old message where the substance is seen as harmful. In simple terms, the body is allowed to learn that the allergen is in fact harmless and so doesn’t have to react negatively when exposed.
Once one substance has been treated and the patient has noted a positive impact, the treatment can continue to other allergens and hopefully restore peace in the body. With this new balanced state, the body can be free from pain and discomfort.
Links with ADHD
What about the links that have been suggested between allergies and ADHD or autism? Well, in recent years, many children and families have been helped by N.A.E.T. If you’re a parent of a child with autism or ADHD, you know how it’s possible to feel disconnected from them. To deal with this, many parents have treated allergy-related autism with N.A.E.T; this is especially true when the child is also experiencing troubles with the sinuses or eczema.
Often, it starts with small symptoms, like asking for the same foods time and time again, but then it gradually gets worse. At Quantum Medical & Wellness Center, we have the professional service you need to work with your child and potentially find the underlying cause of their behavioral issues. As you’ll know, there are numerous causes of autism and ADHD but many children with these also experience allergies to food additives, food coloring, radiation, certain chemicals, pesticides, and even vaccinations.
In years gone by, the advice from medical professional would be to avoid all of these things at all costs. At the Plantation, FL, Quantum Medical & Wellness Center, what we’re saying is ‘let’s find the root cause of the issue and try to help these children so they aren’t having to spend their lives avoiding things’. With N.A.E.T, this is a great starting point on a path that leads to more freedom.
Coming back to how it all works; the muscle response testing should allow our chiropractic team to learn why the child’s body is responding to certain substances the way they are. Once the testing phase has been done, the chiropractic treatment will work on removing these reactions whether it’s to certain foods, clothes, or anything else in their lives.
